The appaling nature of the Saudi regime was recently brought into focus following the alleged torture and assassination of the Saudi journalist (a Washington Post columnist) Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. It is unconscionable that Theresa May’s government is continuing to provide assistance to such a hideous dictatorship.
The British government’s practice of selling arms and providing other support to Saudi Arabia is extremely unpopular, especially as increasing numbers of people are becoming aware of the horrendous Saudi-led bombing and siege of Yemen. The terrible war in Yemen has created a situation in which over 22 million people need humanitarian assistance. 5 million Yemeni children are at risk of starvation.
