Stop the War calls on the government to withdraw its troops from NATO’s Operation Defender, and for NATO to cease this confrontational military exercise. Defender, the largest military training deployment in Europe for 25 years, involves 36,000 troops assembling along the Russian border. As borders across Europe close, such a massive deployment is both misguided and dangerous. At this time of national emergency we demand that the UK government reallocate funds from the military towards welfare and healthcare.
